Critical distinction: BSCI does not issue a "certificate." Instead, it produces an audit report graded from A to E, with C grade or above considered passing for most buyers.

2026 BSCI 2.0 Key Updates

2026 marks a major transformation year with the full implementation of BSCI 2.0, aligned with the EU CSDDD (Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive), ILO forced labor conventions, and ESG frameworks. Factories must shift from "temporary preparation" to 365-day permanent compliance.

1. Audit Mode Overhaul – Unannounced Audits Become the Norm

Fully notified audits have been completely eliminated. Only two modes remain:

Semi-notified (default) : 7–14 day window—auditors arrive randomly within the window

Completely unannounced: No prior notice—high-risk factories mandatory

Night shift mandatory coverage: Audits now mandatorily cover night shifts (17:00–08:00), including on-site inspections, employee interviews, and payroll verification.

2. Digital Auditing Enforced – Zero Tolerance for Falsification

Electronic attendance, automated payroll matching, and blockchain-based working hour tracking are now mandatory. Handwritten records are no longer accepted. Employee interviews must include at least 30% anonymous interviews. AI-powered safety scanning automatically identifies fire and equipment hazards.

3. Labor Rights Weight Increased to 45%

Core requirements:

Weekly working hours ≤48 hours, monthly overtime ≤36 hours

At least one day of rest per week

Wages at or above local minimum, overtime pay compliant

No child labor (under 16) or forced labor—zero tolerance

4. Environmental Compliance Upgraded

Environmental compliance is now independently scored. Mandatory carbon footprint reporting and emission reduction plans are required, aligned with ISO 14064 and the EU CSDDD. Supply chain traceability extends to tier-2 suppliers.

5. Self-Application Channel Opened

Effective July 2, 2025, eligible factories can now apply for audits directly on the amfori platform without waiting for buyer RSP authorization.
