Foreign trade and cross-border e-commerce practitioners have suffered huge losses due to defective sanitary ware products. Once electroplated ceramic basins suffer from coating peeling, glaze defects, water leakage or dimensional deviation, you will face high return costs after arrival. Your Amazon store may also receive negative reviews and claims. Many buyers cannot travel to factories for on-site inspection. In this case, you can entrust a professional third-party inspection company to conduct standardized third-party quality inspection.
As a one-stop third-party inspection & quality control company, Huajian Inspection provides professional inspection services and Amazon inspection services for foreign trade enterprises and Amazon merchants. Taking electroplated ceramic basins as an example, we will walk you through the full on-site third-party inspection process and how our QC team completes product verification and on-site tests.
01 Pre-inspection: Document Verification + AQL Sampling Plan
When our QC arrives at the factory, the first step is not to unpack goods but document review. As a professional third-party quality control firm, inspectors will check sales contracts, approved samples, production drawings, electroplating test reports and batch production records to confirm that specifications, electroplating requirements and packaging match your order.
After document verification, sampling quantity will be calculated strictly according to agreed AQL sampling standard, which is the foundation of product quality inspection. AQL sampling avoids bias caused by hand-picked samples and ensures objective inspection results. At this stage, we can also provide supplier audit upon request to assess factory production environment and quality control system, realizing third-party quality inspection and factory audit in one service.
02 Visual Inspection after Unpacking: Check Surface Defects Carefully
QC picks samples following the sampling plan. Under natural light or 40W lighting, inspectors observe the basin from 30–50 cm at multiple angles. We check ceramic glaze for pinholes, bubbles, black spots, missing glaze and dirt; examine electroplated coating for uniform color, peeling, clouding, exposed substrate and scratches. Check basin rim for smooth finish, no chipping or burrs. Place the basin flat to check deformation and stability, ensuring no wobble.
Visual inspection is a basic part of household goods inspection. Tiny defects may worsen during sea transportation and lead to rejection by overseas buyers. QC takes photos for all defects, records defect types and quantities, and attaches all evidence to the inspection report.
03 Dimensional Measurement & Fitting Compatibility Check
Calipers and steel tapes are used to measure length, width, height, wall thickness and drain hole diameter of electroplated ceramic basins, compared against drawings and approved samples. We also verify dimensions of drain assemblies and faucet cutouts to check installation compatibility.
This is a key item in Amazon inspection. Wrong dimensions will cause assembly failure at overseas warehouses. Returns and replacements will bring huge costs and eat up your profit.
04 Special On-site Test for Electroplated Coating (Core Test Item)
Electroplating quality directly determines whether the product will turn black or peel off in long-term use, which is the most critical test for electroplated ceramic basins.
Adhesion Test: Use cross-cut tool to make 1mm grid cuts on coating. Apply adhesive tape and peel off quickly. Pass standard: coating peeling area less than 5%.
Corrosion Resistance Test: Use salt spray tester for sampling test. Normally, no corrosion after 48 hours. For quick on-site check, wipe coating repeatedly with neutral detergent and check for discoloration or fogging.
Coating Thickness & Gloss Test: Randomly test coating thickness and gloss with thickness gauge and gloss meter. Uniform coating and stable gloss guarantee product durability.
05 Product Function & Safety On-site Tests
Even with good appearance and electroplating, function tests are required to confirm usability:
Water leakage test: Fill the basin with water and keep for 24 hours. Check basin body and joints for leakage or water absorption deformation.
Impact resistance test: Drop standard steel ball from specified height onto basin. No cracks or ceramic chipping allowed for qualified products.
Water absorption test: Weigh sample before and after soaking. Premium ceramic has water absorption rate below 0.5%. Lower water absorption means better resistance to cracking and mildew.
Our third-party quality inspection team records all test data and captures photos/videos as complete evidence.
06 Packaging & Marking Check, Optional Container Loading Supervision
After product inspection, QC checks inner boxes, outer cartons, shipping marks, barcodes and manuals. Verify packing quantity and confirm packaging cushioning meets sea freight requirements. Insufficient protection leads to collision damage during long ocean transit.
If you want further risk control before shipment, we also provide container loading supervision service. Inspectors check container condition and supervise loading process to prevent wrong quantity, misloading or mixed cargo. For exports to Mexico, we support Mexico PEO Pre-origin Inspection as a supplementary service.
07 Issue Inspection Report & Shipment Recommendation
After all inspection items are completed, QC summarizes defect data and photos, and issues bilingual inspection reports. Customers can decide shipment or factory rework based on the report.
